You need some better focus here I think. “I’m a great programmer” is not a product or service. Being great at a skill frankly means nothing. You need a business plan that identifies a market requirement. When you can do this, you have a beginning. Then you need to understand who your target audience is and how to reach them (mail, email, etc.). You need to offer something unique to people at a reasonable price. Finally, I would emphasize that whatever you are offering, if it can be globally sourced, you will likely have long term problems.

I know how you feel. To be honest, I
went the easy way and bought an ebook with all
that stuff researched for me. Now I
have a country music site and sell ads on it.
No music, just info and ads.

Start a website like this guy focussed on Linux:
you have great skills. valuable too.
this is what you do:
1. you jump out look around the town
2. you spot a few business that sell some nice things and are making money.
3. you ask if they have a web-site. some will. but not all.
4. you make them a offer they can’t refuse:
you: hi sir, did u know how much money u can make from the internet (they already know!)?
sir: oh yes! yes! sure.. but umm.. but um ye.. we’re not ready for that.. we don’t know where to begin.. how much does it cost to have a e-ship? $3-4k right? too much.
you:well sir.. i’m here to help you out! I will design a whole website with yourname.com and list all ur goods ready to be shipped globally so u can make $$$$$ instantly all for freee!!!! it will be ready in a month and u won’t have to pay me a penny.. all i ask in return is 20% cut out of the profit u make from this site.. good deal or what.. no risk at all!

you know, there are a few programmers in silicon valley who are making $5mil+/annume just doing this.
